POLYTECHNIC FORUM 2013
Shaiful was a speaker at the National Arts Council Matchbox series of talks entitled Call Me Crazy. Organised by the Youth Arts department, the talk focused on arts practitioners who had left the comforts of a stable job to pursue a freelance career in the arts.
Organised by Nanyang Polytechnic, The Polytechnic Forum 2013 focused on Community and how community action projects can be conducted in respective communities. Shaiful was invited to be a speaker and community partner for "Arts a Way of Life" alongside music duo, Jack & Rai. He spoke about the joys and challenges of organising arts based events and programmes in Tampines.
Since 2008, Shaiful has been curating and producing musical revues for Musical Theatre Live! These revues usually revolve around a specific theme and the songs, which are selected from existing musicals, are then curated to suit the theme. The repertoire is also accompanied by a background of each song, facilitated by Shaiful.
Shaiful was invited to present a paper entitled "Encouraging Creativity Through Performance Building" at the Teachers' Symposium of the Singapore Arts Festival 2012. The paper focused on the aesthetics programme that he had started in Junyuan Secondary School, which encouraged students to self-create works during CCA sessions.
