Community Arts Portfolio

Shaiful has been in the community arts scene in Tampines since 2005. He started Yellow Chair Productions, which is based in Tampines Central and over the years, has organised and curated arts programmes and festivals at various locations around Tampines. Some of these include the Void Deck Festival, Creative Tampines and PAssion Arts @ Tampines events.

Void Deck Festival

Shaiful is the Festival Producer of the Void Deck Festival. He works closely with the Festival Director, David Cheong, to explore the use of the void deck spaces at HDB estates for the purpose of the arts. The goal is to transform the perception of void dock spaces as one that is primarily used for weddings and funerals.

PAssion Arts @ Tampines

Shaiful was  the inaugural Chairperson of the Tampines Central Community Arts and Cultural Club (CACC). He worked closely with his counterparts from the other Tampines CCs to organise some of these events.

Some of these events include the annual events - PAssion Arts Festival Village and the PAssion Arts Singing Festival.

Community Action Project - Poly Forum 2013

Shai was invited to speak to 60 student delegates of the Polytechnic Forum 2013 who had chosen "Arts, a Way of Life" as their focus. He shared about the challenges of creating community arts activities and worked with the students to initiate a Community Action Project at Tampines Interchange.
